I was planning to live with that, given the amount of time they had my car. Now, fast forward to the present time: the ghost touches are back, and the touchscreen refuses to function 95% of the time. I had contacted my service advisor at the dealership on 5/28/26 and replied that she would get with the Service manager and shop foreman. At approximately 143,000 miles, I began experiencing coolant loss without any visible external leak. I also noticed rough operation and shaking during startup. Concerned about the symptoms, I consulted a Honda specialist who advised that the vehicle is exhibiting signs consistent with a failing head gasket and will likely require head gasket replacement. This vehicle has been meticulously maintained and serviced throughout ownership. I retain maintenance records and have taken exceptional care of the vehicle. There has been no abuse, neglect, overheating event, or failure to maintain the vehicle. Through my research, I have found numerous reports from owners of Honda vehicles equipped with the 1.5-liter turbocharged engine describing similar symptoms, including coolant loss, startup misfires, rough cold starts, coolant intrusion into cylinders, and premature head gasket failures. The consistency of these reports suggests a possible design or manufacturing defect affecting the durability of the engine. A failing head gasket can lead to loss of engine power, engine damage, misfires, overheating, and potentially unsafe driving conditions. Given the volume of owner complaints involving Honda's 1.5-liter turbocharged engines, I request that NHTSA investigate whether a safety-related defect exists and whether corrective action, including a recall or service campaign, is warranted.","injuries":0,"components":["ENGINE"],"filed_date":"06/03/2026","odi_number":11741815,"incident_date":"06/01/2022"},{"fire":false,"crash":false,"deaths":0,"summary":"When I would go to accelerate onto the the interstate and would hit around 67-69 MPH my car would go lazy and the engine light would come on. I then took it to the dealership and they said I had “bad gas” and wanted to replace the spark plugs, remove the fuel, and do a fuel treatment for 1200 dollars. I was confused on how this could happen and the dealership stated that it only takes one time, so how can I prevent it? After about 35 miles of driving I had the same issue 2 days after the tune up, this time no warning lights. I took it back to the shop and this time the spark plug in cylinder 4 was bad. While your customer service infrastructure routinely classifies display anomalies as low-priority convenience or entertainment glitches, an objective systems analysis reveals that Honda has centralized critical safety telemetry, emergency communications, and vehicle calibration gateways into a single, unbacked hardware node. Consequently, the catastrophic failure of this infotainment module directly compromises the operational safety of this vehicle, presenting an immediate, unpredictable hazard not only to myself but to the general driving public sharing the roadway. The systematic failure modes of this defect are detailed as follows: 1 Multi-Module Network Failure and Primary Gauge Cluster Blindness The failure of the central display audio unit is not isolated to an entertainment screen. It acts as a network parasite that actively destabilizes the vehicle's primary Driver Information Interface DII on the steering wheel instrument cluster. Toggling the steering wheel controls to view Audio or System telemetry on the primary driver's dash gauge results in an immediate, total blackout of the left digital dashboard display. Because the central infotainment unit's microprocessor is frozen, degraded, or locked up, it fails to respond to high-priority internal Controller Area Network CAN bus data requests from the instrument cluster. This creates a severe data bottleneck that blinds the operator to system telemetry directly behind the steering wheel while traveling at highway speeds. This causes the system to randomly change settings, switch screens, activate functions, and interfere with navigation and audio controls while driving.
